Roland Mouret, Fall 2011.
As you can see, Mouret is a genius at fit. Of course each body is different and with a few minor adjustments to individual figure this could be even more stunning, but it’s pretty damn good for ready to wear! The wool/viscose fabric even seemed to have a bit of stretch to it, just a tiny touch that sort of held everything together. The darts were placed perfectly (no awkward dart points that end right at the nipple) and the neckline was super flattering. There was no lining (I mean where would you put it this dress is so tight!) but every seam was finished beautifully, the hardware and zipper were extremely high quality and the hand of the fabric… flawless.
Most importantly, when I put this dress on I instantly felt super elegant, chic, important and grown up! I imagine it’s similar to what a man feels in a good bespoke suit. Your carriage and posture changes entirely and you can’t help but feel ah-mazing. And that…. is what it’s all about.
